AEMI - Spanish Association of Infant Massage

The Spanish Association of Infant Massage (Asociación Española de Masaje Infantil or AEMI) aims to contribute to the protection of childhood through the promotion of child massage, which favours the development of positive links between children and families and legal guardians. Massage is considered a means to promote communication through touch, which has a direct impact on the physical, psychic and emotional health of the child.

Barça Foundation

 

The Barça Foundation gives support to pediatric patients with different activities within its Pediatric Emotional Well-being Program. The most outstanding activities are visits of the players to admitted patients, activity of the Pol robot and Magic Memories.

Creu Roja

Creu Roja volunteers work with the Vall d’Hebron Maternity and Children's Hospital to manage activities in the cyber room (Ciberaula) on a daily basis. The room is a place for little ones to play and have fun. The patient library project is being conducted at the General Hospital and the Traumatology, Rehabilitation and Burns Hospital. This organisation also provides support volunteers at crucial moments for patients and families with special needs.

Maria Auxiliadora Group

A voluntary social association that helps people at risk of social exclusion. It works alongside the hospital to offer bedside support to patients admitted. It also supports internal actions aimed at improving the emotional state of patients.

Leo Messi Foundation

The Leo Messi Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to performing acts of solidarity and social commitment. Created in 2007, it was born with the idea that children should all have the same opportunities to realise their dreams. Its mission is to help children and teenagers in high risk situations, in collaboration with other institutions that carry out projects in line with the fundamental beliefs of the foundation, based on health, education and sport. In the case of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, the Leo Messi Foundation funded the Espai Barça (Barça Zone), a 45 m2 play area in the Maternity and Children's Hospital. It has also provided a case manager for clinical trial patients taking part in the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute’s Translational Research on Childhood and Adolescent Cancer research group.

The Autonomous University Volunteer Foundation (FAS)

The Autonomous University Volunteer Foundation is a voluntary organisation made up of university students from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, who work on various projects. They coordinate activities and entertainment for hospitalised children and take part in initiatives such as the distribution of books to promote reading or toys from donations.

Association for People with Spinal Cord Injury (ASPAYM)

ASPAYM Catalunya conducts its care project at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital on patients newly affected by spinal cord injuries admitted to the Spinal Cord Injury Unit. This project benefits from the experience of volunteers and spinal cord injury veterans, who support patients during their convalescence with different activities such as tutorials so that patients acquire new skills to carry out daily activities. It also supports close relatives to help them overcome the initial period of accepting the injury and group activities to foster personal independence.

Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC)

The AECC involves patients, families, volunteers and professionals, who work together to prevent, inform, be with people, and fund cancer research projects to foster better diagnosis and treatment. Its mission is to fight against cancer and lead the effort of society as a whole to reduce the impact caused by the disease. At Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, it offers companionship and support to cancer patients and provides peer volunteers especially for women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Petit Món

Non-profit private foundation aimed at improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable people. The Petit Món Foundation offers, among other projects, temporary accommodation for families who need a place to feel at home while facing hospital or surgical treatment for their child, daughter, or a family member under the most pleasant conditions possible and without incurring a significant financial expense.

It is aimed at families residing more than 50 km from Barcelona and who have few financial resources to afford hotel accommodation during their stay, and have made the request through the social workers at the hospitals where they receive treatment. The only condition imposed on beneficiaries is that they commit to taking care of the provided accommodation, the room, and the common areas.

The request to access the accommodation is processed through the Social Work Unit of the Vall d'Hebron Hospital. You can find more information here.

Association created by a group of clowns made up specifically of hospital clowns that aims to make hospital stays more pleasant for children and adults, using the therapeutic properties of laughter and a big dose of sensitivity. The goal is to minimise the impact of hospitalisation on children and their families, and promote activities that make hospital stays more pleasant.
