UNES FC Barcelona

The UNES Sports Union is a non-profit organisation that promotes sports among people with a physical disability. Nowadays, its main focus is wheelchair basketball. The club’s main aim is to increase the number of disabled people who practise sport and position itself as a benchmark body in Catalonia, both in the competitive and recreational fields. Since 2009, the club has promoted the AFA school (Adapted physical activity), a project that enjoys strong support from and agreements with hospitals and rehabilitation centres, such as Vall d’Hebron University Hospital.

Liver Transplant Club of Catalonia

An organisation that works to offer information and help to sick patients and those who have received liver transplants, as well as their family and friends. It works hand in hand with Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, both in paediatric and adult patients.

Barcelona PID Foundation

The Barcelona PID Foundation (Immunology & Infection) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2014 by a group of professionals in paediatric care of primary immunodeficiencies and their infection complications. Its mission is to support people with primary immunodeficiency through raising awareness in society, research, and caring for patients and their relatives.

Association of Social Companionship (AZINNIA)

Non-profit entity born in 2004 with the aim of giving people with long-term conditions a better quality of social interaction. Its goal is to minimise the problems people face in overcoming an illness by giving them companionship. The organisation encourages its members to take part in social and emotional support activities to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of hospitalised people. Volunteers offer their services to Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and coordinates with healthcare professionals.

Association Endavant Chic@s

Association of patients with breast cancer that aims to inform, support and help patients and their families affected by breast cancer. In the hospital, volunteers from this association work alongside professionals from the Breast Pathology Unit in order to cover the needs that may arise during the clinical process, from diagnosis to the end of treatment. This support includes being there for: chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical appointments, testing, admission, hospital stays, care for relatives. 

 

 

Association of Children with Liver Transplants (ANINATH)

Its mission consists of being a vehicle for the expression and action of all the families of children who have had a liver transplant, as well as the children themselves, to improve their life, their surroundings and contribute to their personal growth. It also does everything it can to raise awareness of how to become an organ donor. Its most ambitious project is its collaboration with the team in the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital Functional Childhood Transplant Unit, the floor dedicated exclusively to boys and girls with liver transplants (or solid organ transplants in general), with specialised nurses.

Sant Jordi Amputee Association

A non-profit association dedicating its efforts towards offering support to people with amputation, agenesis and other physical disabilities, to achieve full inclusion and defend their rights. All its actions are focused on promoting a new culture of abilities that aims to create a society that is more inclusive and respectful when it comes to people’s dignity and differences.

SiC - Suport i Companyia [Support and Companionship]

The Vall d'Hebron University Hospital collaborates with this non-profit entity, created on 1 October 2010 by a lymphoma expat. Its mission is to improve the quality of life of patients and relatives of hematological cancer, offering free support services and psychological and emotional support: Psychological care, Mutual Assistance Groups, Accompaniment Groups in the Dol, Therapeutic Workshops and Volunteering.

Catalan Association for Patients with Advanced Respiratory Disease (AIRE)

Founded in 2005, the group is made up of transplanted patients and their closest relatives. It is the result of a feeling of gratitude from this type of patient, who is struggling with illness day to day, and it is also a good way to disseminate it to society as a whole. The association offers moral and human support in order to face a lung transplant, with the health, socio-economic and emotional implications it entails.

Barça Players’ Association

Unites former players from all FC Barcelona football categories with hospitalised children. It is a non-profit organisation created in 1959 with the mission of guaranteeing quality of life and keeping up morale among former FC Barcelona footballers, allowing them to take part in activities organised by the association. The Association organises social, training and sporting activities, both for its members and to promote Barça’s values and history. The Barça Players’ Association and Vall d’Hebron University Hospital have signed a collaboration agreement so that former players commentate on FC Barcelona matches for children admitted to the Maternity and Children's Hospital.
