Dra. Yolima Cossio Gil

After practicing for several years as an emergency and family doctor in Colombia and Spain, I discovered the need to improve health from a population perspective and directed my career towards quality healthcare, management, and healthcare policies. I worked in this field with organizations such as the WHO on international projects in Colombia, England, Vietnam, South Africa, and finally Spain.

A few years ago, I immersed myself in the exciting world of data for decision-making as the clinical coordinator of the Data and Innovation Department at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, and in 2019, I was appointed Director of Information Systems and Management Support at the same hospital. In this position, and as chair of the digital transformation committee and the artificial intelligence and data access committee of the organization, I lead the value-based digital transformation and data strategy at the hospital.

I also participate in competitive European projects such as H2O (Health Outcomes Observatory), coordinate a line in the healthcare services research group at VHIR, and represent HUVH in the digital network of the European Alliance of University Hospitals (EUHA). In my free time, I am a member of the board of the Catalan Society for Healthcare Quality and participate in other scientific societies such as the Digital Health Association.
