L’OMS ha anunciat la seva campanya mundial 2023 per al dia Mundial sense tabac enfocada en el cultiu sostenible en lloc de tabac. La crisi alimentaria mundial ha augmentat pels conflictes bèl·lics, el canvi climàtic i l’impacte de la pandèmia de la Covid. Els preus dels materials i el cost de l’energia han crescut de manera alarmant. El cultiu i producció del tabac produeixen danys ecològics globals a llarg termini tant en el canvi climàtic com en el futur de l’agricultura i la seguretat alimentària. Els danys del cultiu del tabac són evidents en els països d’ingressos baixos i mitjans. El dia mundial del tabac ha de servir per conscienciar de la necessitat de reduir el cultiu i producció del tabac i mirar d’invertir a protegir la salut alimentària. Des de l’Scatt ens adherim a aquesta iniciativa de que volem aliments i no tabac.
