Tant l'esterilització, com la desinfecció de materials, ambient i superfícies en aquest tipus d'instal·lacions es poden considerar elements crítics que un professional de la bioseguretat ha de conèixer en profunditat per poder superar els hàndicaps relacionats amb el treball en aquest tipus d'àrees i emprar sempre els mètodes de descontaminació més apropiats a cada circumstància.
