La malaltia de Parkinson (MP) és un trastorn neurodegeneratiu motor però també no motor, sent clau la identicació i correcte maneig dels símptomes no motors (SNM). Diferents estudis han demostrat que la depressió, fatiga, apatia, dolor, demència, psicosi o símptomes disautonòmics són prevalents en els pacients amb MP i com aquests impacten de forma negativa en la qualitat de vida del pacient amb MP independentment d'altres variables. Aquesta ponència pretén revisar aspectes rellevants dels SNM a la MP mostrant resultats de la cohort espanyola COPPADIS, amb més de 600 pacients amb MP a seguiment per part de neuròlegs de 35 hospitals d'Espanya.
Diego Santos García, és llicenciat en Medicina i Cirurgia per la Universitat de Valladolid (1996-2002) i metge especialista de Neurologia via MIR (Santiago de Compostela, 2003-2007). Va obtenir el títol de Doctor “Cum Laudem” per la Universitat de Santiago de Compostela al 2007.
Centrat des de 2009 en la malaltia de Parkinson i altres trastorns del moviment, va obtenir el premi al Millor Neuròleg Jove en Trastorns del Moviment de la Societat Espanyola de Neurologia (SEN) al 2011. Ha publicat més de 80 articles a revistes nacionals i/o internacionals, presentat més de 200 comunicacions i/o ponències en cursos i/o congressos nacionals i/o internacionals i participat com a co-coordinador en projectes de recerca nacional.
